Proposal #23: Me and my Vision.

I propose that all CISV officials (committee chairs, IEC Members, IJRs and whoever else is interested) take the responsibility to write, after the end of their term, a document (on their personal style) about their experience in the position and what visions they have for their "area of responsibility".

Rationale

In CISV we are very bad at keeping track of the visions and ideas of our leadership. We only know of the ideas of our leadership when they actually become true; the more long term visions, ideas and possibilities that weren't able to be worked on are usually lost. At the same time, leadership very often has more to contribute to the community when the end of their term gets closer. It is relevant that they have a chance to express (and the community to read and keep) their thoughts, ideas and visions for the future of the organization and they "areas".

Respectfully submitted, Marcos (BRA)

{ IEC: International Executive Committee = the bosses of CISV international. IJR= International Junior representative = the bosses of international Junior Branch }

Hello,

It would be nice to have that twice - at the beginning of the term the visions and at the end of the term a reflection and some suggestions on how to go on further. I believe that anyone, who assumes a leadership position in CISV should have a vision on where s/he wants to go, where s/he wants to lead the organisation as a whole or in a certain area of expertise (may that be Village, Electronic Communication or Junior Branch). This would also lead to a much better transparency.

Intersting idea. I wonder the people in the top leadership positions are also always the best visionaries?
In fact, I believe, the most succesful people in our organisation, are those who LISTEN to visions from other people and make them happen.

heheh
Nick always brings some good points. This one is really great - specially rethorically, but I'm just not sure it's true.

But you're right. My initial (and extreme) idea is to have everyone that wants to be able to publish (it's free!) their visions about CISV in a personal document.

If we had these visions, I'm sure we'd understand more the organization...

But what I propose here is less than that. Do you think it's possible? Is it relevant or I like to read too much?

I really like nick comments, visionaries are nothing if nobody make vision happens

I think that CISV, (at least here in Canada) is at a changing point. We need to reflect as to where we have been and what we originated from in order to obtain a better idea of where we can/want to/are going to go. What better idea then to see the reflections from the people who made it happen? Marcos, I think I am with you in that I love readin too much as well, but isin't it a lovely thought?
To have some sort of publication with CISVers from all levels explaining how thier time in CISV fit into thier vision, how it changed, and how it contributed to thier identity?

I understand the function of it being done by people in a leadership posistion, and I think it's a great idea. But I am going to try to think bigger and really use CISVdevils to it's potential.

Hey there! most of u dont know me, maybe will, someday =). marquitos does =). im josefina from argentina.
i agree with marcos' vision; i think it would be really convenient to have that sort of info base. In any case, for those who dont really find a point to it, it is extra resources for those who may need/look for them.
so the point would actually be how to collect the info, and mainly how to display it, making it abailable and interesting to access.
Sometimes the information displayed in cisv is contained in such long documents that, unless ur an IJR and know that reading bout a previos IJR experience would be a benefit for you, people end up discarding or posponing the reading.
i guess im suggesting, before such a long project is started, lets design an efficient way to promote, access and make a use out of it.
hope i contributed in any way =)

I love this idea!
It's so simple yet so great! I think people don't always get to accomplish all of their projects for different reasons and some of those great ideas could get lost once the person's term ends, so it would be great if they could write a freestyle paper not like a report sharing some more of their thoughts!
I for one would like to read that, find some inspiration in their ideas, may not agree with all of them but I'm sure it would be benefitial. Isn't it a little like what we are doing here??! :)
Best regards!

The IJRs will try to implement this one from this year on. : )

We will also encourage others to do so, of course.

Cheers.

hey all,
I love the idea. In the netherlands when I was half way my term I discovered a 3YP of a NJR before me - luckily we were on the same line and many things that she wrote down were already being done, but it would have safed time and energy to have read that document before.
So on a bigger scale I think it's a great idea. No one has to read everything on all positions, but for YOUR specific position (or one of your interest) this could really help us to work and think more effectively and longterm.
