Proposal #25: Ease Fund 100.

I propose to create a new fund in CISV international that makes 100 GBP available to any kind of project any CISVer may wants to come up with. Applications are sent in by e-mail and cannot contain more than 100 words. Applicants will be informed about the approval or rejection of their application within 100 hours. Oh, and 100 such proposals will be accepted a year.
A few more things:
  • Ease Fund 100 grants do not have to match CISV international budget items.
  • Ease Fund 100 grants can cover travel, travel, travel, or anything else.
  • No receipts or reports are needed, however a short story (no longer than...right...100 words) about the success of the project (that shall be posted on the Ease Fund 100 website) will make the applicant eligible for another application (even within the same year).

Rationale

Quick ideas need quick money.

Respectfully submitted, Nick (GER)

Sounds like a free dinner!

what about that:

- to get the grant the project must have at least a 100 votes "yes" from anyone interested in it throught the
website.

- in the same way, a 100 votes "no" means that the project is rejected

- anyone, cisv'er or not, can vote.

I really like the idea. However, I have some remarks that might sound picky (but hey - I'm german afterall) but I guess they are crucial to the idea:

Where does the money come from? If I can calculate right this would need 10.000 Pounds, which is quite a lot of money. Or as we say, an old lady would need to do a lot of knitting for that.

Who would decide if an idea gets funding?

How and from where would the money be transfered? (inside of Europe, no big deal... but overseas?)

Just some thoughts

Sarah: Thanks, I forgot to mention that the grant is 100 GBP - but it was obviously implicit (and I corrected the proposal now)

Sarah and Bastian: I challenge you to discuss the general notion of this proposal instead of the details. :) But I'm glad your taking the idea serious. To tell you the truth, we would not only need 10.000 GBP, but even something like 200.000 GBP, if only athe interest (like 5%) was used.

Pedro: Fantastic: Your adjustment adds some basic democracy to the idea!

Since this proposal isn't receiving more comments, I would just like to leave a few more remarks on this idea:

The basic concept is to provide limited amounts of chunks of money to CISVers who have a plan or idea or wish to take part in a meeting, or need to buy something for a great activity, that otherwise wouldn't happen. The bureaucracy should be limited.

I don't think that free dinner for, say a surprise for a leaving JB board would be something really bad, so Diego, yes, also free dinner.

If not a new fund (I guess, there's no money anyway) I would like to see the Peace fund be a bit more spontaneous, easier accesible, democratic, unconventional and less difficult to access.

I think this is a great idea, not only because of the providing funds-itself - but for the impact on volunteers willing to "get things done" and that just can't for financial reasons.

I truly believe this could boost motivation and the idea of doing-it-yourself within CISV.

As for the Peace Fund, I must say that I've been really thinking (and Devil'ing) about ways to concretely make a change on the Peace Fund.

Will send proposals about it soon. Or this proposal is the place to discuss them? Nick?

Marcos, I think that the CISV Devils website is open to discussing proposals touching the same topic over and over again, as long as either
- the new proposal has a new "flavour" concerning the old problem
- some time has passed since the old proposal has been posted (some time > 1 month or so)

But..as mentioned before...CISV Devils is whatever we want it to be...so if you want to discuss more Peace fund issues under this proposal...please go ahead...whatever, really!

Alright, I'll put some more thought into it and send as a new proposal, to better organize the discussion.

thanks, my friend.
cheers, as you say.
